） Engineering Office Management

a） Complete mechanical and electrical equipment records

- Daily check on all mechanical and electrical equipment records and data submitted by shift operation for any abnormality.

- Follow-up remedy work to equipment shows abnormal or return to the secretary for record & filing.

b） Preventive Maintenance Scheduling

- Ensuring that the preventive maintenance programme is set and follow up on schedule accordingly.

- Check with subordinates on the programme schedule and ensuring that all equipment are cover throughout the year cycle on maintenance.

c） Inventory of spare parts, tools and expendables

- Carry out monthly check with storekeeper on engineering inventory and their usage.

d） Purchasing Requisition

- Put up all necessary purchase requests on time to avoid equipment breakdown and store related items.

e） Filling of building drawings and specifications

- Keep all building drawings in place and technical specification of equipment are kept proper for future reference.



f） Maintenance Budgeting

- Set maintenance budget and its recommendation for capital expenditure on equipment require replacement and improvement.

g） Manpower Recruiting and Training

- Ensure the right candidate is recruiting for the right job and carry out technical training on the job training for new trainee.

h） Organization Chart

- Set up an organization chart for the engineering dept. and relate their line of reporting.



2） Planning

a） Responsible for the department planning and setting up programme for day to day operation accordingly to the need of the hotel function and requirement. Evaluates all Engineering contracts and bids. Submit recommendations to superior for approval.



3） Training

a） On the Job Training

- Responsible for the basic on the job training for all new staff.

- Detail a programme for the staff to go through, minimum a month on the job training before proper assignment is given.

b） Internal Training

- To ensure the internal training programme is laid down by the Engineering trainer on certain programme that is relevant to the department e.g. Safety in Electrical, basic Air-conditioning & Fire Protection system.

c） External Training

- Responsible for the staff future and upgrading of skill.

- Select the rightful staff for external training programme.

- Liaison with Training Manager for such courses.



4） Air-conditioning System

a） Chiller Plant

- To ensure that proper record and log recording is taken daily at regular hour interval by the shift operation technician.

- Ensure that the chiller is shutdown during its schedule time and restart by the technician on duty.

- Check on contractor carry out maintenance servicing and repair work.

b） Air handling Unit

- To ensure that the entire building AHU is accountable for and schedule is periodically servicing accordingly to their usage.

- Ensure that technician carry out visual inspection of the AHU rooms.

- Weekly check for its cleanliness and it unusual symptom produce from motors and mechanical parts.

- Weekly washing of AHU filters.

- Filters are to be thoroughly washed and clean, dry before replacement.

- Ensure that the procedure of maintenance of the AHU are properly carryout e.g. check cooling coil for damage, check fan blower and fan blade for cleanliness and grease accordingly.
